Where we collect or handle any information about you, we have to meet strict requirements to do so lawfully under data protection law. Health information is particularly sensitive and we have to meet a second condition, too. Below is a table of what we do with your data.
We don’t routinely share client personal data with anyone. If we need to share it with our insurers, a court, or anyone else, we will usually tell you as soon as possible.We hold personal data on enquiries for a week after we have made contact with you to make sure we can accurately answer any questions you have for us. For consultations and
procedures, we hold personal data for a minimum of 8 years, or until you are 25, whichever is longer, as this is a legal requirement. After this time we will delete them. Your records will be stored using a specialist medical records service. This provider has given us their assurances that they are fully compliant with the General Data Protection Regulations. Access to this data is password protected, and the passwords are changed regularly.
You have rights over how we handle your personal data, including the rights to: – access to your own data
– rectification of factual inaccuracies in your data
– erasure of your data under some circumstances
– restriction of how we use your data
– object to how we handle your data
– the right to data portability (I’m not sure that this will actually apply to you, as it only applies where the data are processed for the performance of a contract and where the processing is carried out by automated means. Once you know what you plan to do, chat with me and we can see if you’ll need to)
Where you have asked to receive marketing materials from us, you can withdraw your consent at any time. We will need to check from time to time (yearly) that you still want to receive marketing.
If you’re unhappy about how we’ve handled your data, please let us know in the first instance and we will do everything we can to address your concerns. You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office, which regulates data protection law in the UK:
